Over the past decades, various innovative sensing and biosensing technologies have been developed and implemented in the healthcare infrastructure and steadily improving our centralised healthcare systems. While the recent covid-19 pandemic exposes the challenges of the established centralized healthcare system with an unmet demand in hospital and laboratory testing, and that demonstrated the emerging needs for future rapid, cost-effective, and portable/wearable biosensing technologies for the future sustainable healthcare system. This Research Topic aims to provide an insight into the future needs for sustainable healthcare driven by emerging technologies and advancements in the commercialisation of innovative sensing and biosensing devices and technologies.
This Research Topic will include a collection of scientific articles highlighting the key subjects that are presented at the symposium such as technologies in point-of-care (PoC), wearable and implantable sensors and biosensors, body sensor networks, mobile and smartphone-enabled biosensor platforms, digital e-health systems, internet-of-things (IoTs) bio-sensing technologies, as well as other remoted and decentralised sensing and biosensing technologies for sustainable healthcare systems.
The themes covered in this Research Topic include but not limited to the following:
• Advanced sensing technology
• Paper-based analytical devices
• Wearable sensors
• Breath sensors
• Portable device engineering
• Sustainable materials for sensors
