About this Research Topic
High-throughput technologies have dramatically increased the amount of pharmacogenomic data, now allowing the examination of multiple histological types, such as gene expression and mutation profiles, for potential drug targets and predictors of drug response. Model organisms are increasingly being used to find targets for small-molecule drugs and to validate these targets. Discussing and clarifying how new molecular targets and pathways may offer a new impulse to precision therapy is the reason for being for this Research Topic.
This Research Topic welcomes Original Research, Mini Reviews, Perspectives, and Methods. The themes of this collection include but are not limited to the following areas:
1. New strategies to overcome drug resistance observed with targeted therapies
2. New anti-cancer targeted therapy based on recently identified molecular pathways
3. Novel biomarkers that can optimize response to precision medicine
Keywords: Drug resistance, cancer, biomarkers, machine learning
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
