Evidence-based practices (EBP) are the integration of the best available research evidence with clinical practice expertise in the context of client or patient characteristics, culture, and preferences. EBP starts with the client and asks what research evidence, that is relevant results from systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCT) will assist the social work, education, nursing, and mental health practitioners to achieve the best client outcomes.
The purpose of EBP is to promote effective behavioral and psychosocial practice and enhance public health by applying empirically supported principles of assessments, case formulation, interfering relationships, and intervention. Human service practice entails many types of interventions, in multiple settings, for a wide variety of potential clients. Further, social work, education, nursing, and mental health practitioners target a variety of problems, including but not restricted to mental health, academic, vocational, relational, health, community, and other problems, in their professional practice.
A sizeable body of scientific evidence drawn from a variety of research designs and methodologies attests to the effectiveness of behavioral and psychosocial interventions on social, health, and psychological well-being for all ages and different problems. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials are the highest-quality evidence in a research area because their study design reduces bias and produces more reliable findings.
The goal of this Research Topic is to publish systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses on the efficacy or effectiveness of behavioral and psychosocial interventions that aim at treating social, health, and psychological problems. This Research Topic will be extremely beneficial not only because they provide high-quality empirical evidence, but also because it will include extensive references to primary studies relevant to the research area.
This Research Topic encourages Systematic review and/or meta-analysis on the following:
• Focusing on social, health, behavioral, and psychosocial interventions
• Including social, psychological, and/or behavioral health well-being as primary outcomes
