Given the success of last year's volume of the Research Topic: Education in Thoracic Surgery 2022, and the rapidly evolving subject area, we are pleased to announce the launch of a 2023 volume of this exciting topic.
There is increasing emphasis across surgical specialties on sound education and a growing recognition that education is key to safe clinical practice and effective professional development, however surgery presents unique opportunities and challenges to educators and trainers. Here, we discuss methods and approaches to the education of surgical students, residents, and fellows, as well as practicing surgeons and this topic will act as a resource for principal investigators, lab managers, supervisors, educators, researchers, and the wider community within surgery for the education and training of surgeons.
We welcome contributions in the form of original research, review, mini review, hypothesis and theory, perspective, and experimental studies that cover, but are not limited to, following themes:
- Training models or programmes
- E-learning
- Video-assisted surgery and 3D imaging
- Innovation and integration of technology, especially in teaching and learning
- Emerging and successful educational approaches
Keywords:
Education, Thoracic Surgery, Training, E-Learning, Technological Advances
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
