Manuscript Submission Deadline 31 January 2024

This Research Topic is still accepting articles. For authors aiming to contribute, please submit your manuscript today

We are pleased to announce a Research Topic of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry 2023 on the topic of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The focus of the Research Topic will be on the application of neuroimaging techniques to advance our understanding of the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD.

PTSD is a debilitating mental disorder that affects individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. Despite decades of research, the underlying neurobiological mechanisms of PTSD remain poorly understood. Recent advances in neuroimaging techniques, however, have provided new insights into the neural correlates of PTSD.

This Research Topic aims to highlight the latest findings in the field of neuroimaging and to explore their potential implications for the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD, and provide a valuable resource for researchers, clinicians, and policy-makers interested in advancing our understanding of PTSD through the use of neuroimaging. We welcome Original Research articles, Review articles, and Perspectives on the following topics:

- Neuroimaging biomarkers for the diagnosis of PTSD
- Structural and functional alterations in the brain of patients with PTSD
- The role of neuroimaging in predicting treatment response for PTSD
- Novel neuroimaging techniques for studying PTSD, such as connectomics and deep learning
- The ethical implications of using neuroimaging in the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD
- Using neuroimaging to gain further insights into the mechanisms underlying successful treatments

All submitted articles will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest quality of the published work. We encourage submissions from researchers working in the fields of psychiatry, neuroscience, psychology, radiology, and related disciplines.

We believe that this Research Topic will contribute to the advancement of our understanding of PTSD and help to develop new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder. We look forward to receiving your submissions.

Keywords: ptsd, neuroimaging

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
