Frontiers in Neuroscience - Gut-Brain Axis is delighted to present the ‘Reviews in’ series of article collections.
‘Reviews In Gut-Brain Axis: Stress, dysregulation in gut-brain axis function and anxiety’ will publish high-quality scholarly review papers on key themes specifically addressing stress and dysregulation in the gut-brain axis (GBA). This includes an investigation of mechanisms that affect dysregulation of the GBA, the effect of stress on, and the role of, gut microbiota, as well as the bi-directional effect of GBA dysregulation on the onset of depression and other mood disorders. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion in the community that will translate to best practice applications in clinical, public health and policy settings.
To this end, we welcome various types of review articles, including full-length, mini or systematic review papers that address these points. Novel ways and treatment methods to best regulate GBA function and reduce the likelihood of the development of stress-related disorders is also welcomed. New articles will be added to the collection as they are published.
To best address these points above, we welcome submissions that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:
- Examination of gut dysbiosis and gut inflammation and its link to anxiety and mood disorders
- The effect of gut microbiota and healthy gut function on depression, anxiety, and mental wellness
- The causes of GBA dysregulation and its effect on mental health and stress-related disorders
- Ways to best regulate GBA function and best reduce stress-related disorders
