Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative field, offering innovative solutions to pressing global challenges such as water treatment, healthcare, and food security. In the context of a sustainable society, the concept of a circular economy, particularly one that utilizes bio-based materials, has gained traction as a strategy to minimize waste and close the loop in industrial processes. Despite the potential of nanotechnology to revolutionize renewable energies, agricultural practices, and bioplastic production, these areas remain underexplored. Current challenges in renewable energies include the development of sustainable alternative resources for solar and optoelectrical devices. In agriculture, the integration of nanomaterials into growth, formulations, and applications presents both opportunities and hurdles. Additionally, the use of green nanomaterials in bioplastics offers a promising avenue to address the pervasive issue of plastic waste. While significant strides have been made, there is a pressing need for further research to fully understand the potential of nanotechnology in these domains.

This research topic aims to explore the advancement of nanotechnology in actualizing circular economy strategies as a sustainable means in research for renewable energies and their application in agriculture and bioplastics. The objective is to investigate new and modified processes for synthesizing, characterizing, and applying various nanomaterials to create functional nanocomposites for energy, agriculture, and bio-based plastics. Additionally, this Topic will demonstrate the superiority of circular economy nanotechnology over traditional linear economic models, while also evaluating its advantages and disadvantages within industrial contexts.
