Sleep, sedentary, and physical activity constitute the basic behaviors of humans, and the duration of these behaviors covers 24 hours of the day. Numerous studies have shown that these behaviors are closely related to the health of children and adolescents. For example, insufficient sleep, excessive sedentary, and lack of physical activity are important causes of obesity, decreased physical fitness, psychological problems, and cognitive decline in children and adolescents.
The proportion of children and adolescents worldwide who meet the overall 24-Hour Movement Guidelines is currently low. In many areas, the challenges are more acute. We need to have a better understanding of 24-hour movement behavior among children and adolescents.
We will accept articles on the measurement and evaluation of 24-hour movement behavior, the relationship between 24-hour movement behavior and health, empirical studies on recommended 24-hour movement behavior, and promotion measures for 24-hour movement behavior. We invite experts in 24-hour movement behavior and child and adolescent health to submit scientific papers related to the area presented here.
The first purpose of this Research Topic is to develop a questionnaire on 24-hour movement behavior of children and adolescents from different cultural backgrounds, so as to provide a reliable, convenient and practical measurement tool for related research. Secondly, through large-scale population survey, explore the distribution characteristics, influencing factors and health benefits of 24-hour movement behavior of children and adolescents. Third, through empirical research, provide more references for formulating 24-hour movement behavior guidelines for children and adolescents. Finally, we aim to develop measures to promote 24-hour movement behavior among children and adolescents at the family, school and community.
