The role of physical activity (PA) and exercise in the lives of female cancer survivors is increasingly recognized for its profound impact on their recovery, long-term well-being, and reintegration into sports settings. While cancer treatment can lead to fatigue, muscle loss, and decreased physical function, structured and individualized exercise programs have been shown to improve strength, endurance, and overall physical and mental health, significantly influencing their ability to participate in athletic activities. Despite this growing body of evidence, research focusing specifically on the intersection of oncology and sports participation for female survivors remains limited.

This Research Topic aims to explore how specialized exercise and sports programs can facilitate the reintegration of female cancer survivors into athletic environments. By exploring the intersection of oncology, sports science, and women's health, this collection seeks to highlight innovative approaches and evidence-based interventions that improve sports participation and athletic performance for female survivors. In this context, there is a clear need for improved education and training about physical activity for oncologists, as well as better collaboration between medical professionals and sport scientists, to ensure the successful delivery and effectiveness of these programs. It aims to integrate contributions from fields such as sports coaching, community sports programs, and sports medicine to provide a comprehensive perspective on optimizing sports involvement post-recovery.
