The first volume uncovered significant insights into the integration of the DSM-5 Cultural Formulation Interview (CFI) within psychiatric practice, incorporating clinical insights from the United States, Sweden and the Netherlands. These uncovered challenges such as testing, implementation assessment, fidelity concerns, training, and application across diverse demographic groups. Building upon these findings, there remains a crucial need to deepen our understanding of the CFI's operational and therapeutic efficacy, which prompts further exploration within and beyond these initial research findings.

This Research Topic aims to build on these foundations, proposing an inquiry into both established and novel applications of the CFI. Specifically, it seeks to examine the CFI's efficacy throughout the clinical process, assess its impact within a dual framework of qualitative and quantitative research, and explore its applicability across different psychiatric and non-psychiatric diagnoses. Additionally, this topic will consider theoretical perspectives that evaluate the nature and functionality of the CFI, alongside its integration into culturally competent diagnostic protocols.
