Head and neck diseases contain tumors, infections, inflammation, and other lesions. These diseases often involve tissues in the mouth, throat, larynx, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, ears, and neck. Head and neck tumors are one of the most common diseases, including benign and malignant tumors such as oral cancer, and laryngeal cancer. Smoking, alcohol consumption, viral infections (such as human papillomavirus), and environmental factors are considered the main risk factors for head and neck cancer. Additionally, infectious diseases such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and sinusitis are also very common in the head and neck, typically caused by bacteria or viruses.

Early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial for improving patient prognosis. Advances in understanding molecular mechanisms have significantly contributed to this field. With the development of medical technology, treatment methods for head and neck diseases have gradually diversified, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, aimed at improving the quality of life and survival rates of patients. This research topic aims to provide a centralized platform for showcasing the latest research findings on head and neck diseases. The focus of this research topic is on the pathogenesis, progression mechanisms, and cancer immunology of head and neck cancer.

We invite contributions in the form of Original Research Articles, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Perspectives, Hypothesis and Theory, Data Reports, and Methods. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Tumor immunotherapy: The mechanisms and clinical applications of immune checkpoint inhibitors as well as research and development progress in immunotherapy.
• Head and neck diseases: Early diagnostic techniques for head and neck tumors along with multidisciplinary treatment approaches for head and neck diseases.
• Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering: New strategies for soft and hard tissue reconstruction and the applications of biomaterials in tissue engineering.
• Clinical trial design and data analysis: Best practices in modern clinical trials and the application of big data in clinical research.

Note: This research topic is primarily focused on cancer, and related articles should be submitted to the Cancer Cell Biology section, while articles related to regenerative medicine/tissue engineering may be considered for submission to the Molecular and Cellular Pathology section.
