Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most widespread sustained cardiac arrhythmia globally, significantly contributing to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare burden while negatively impacting quality of life. Despite numerous breakthroughs in comprehending and managing AF, substantial knowledge gaps persist in elucidating its various mechanisms, optimizing risk stratification, enhancing diagnostics, and developing next-generation therapies. Beyond its well-established links with stroke and heart failure, AF is increasingly associated with systemic inflammation, obesity, sleep disorders, and structural cardiac remodeling, necessitating a contemporary, multidisciplinary approach to both research and patient care.

This Research Topic aims to provide an extensive platform for original research, translational studies, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and expert perspectives on the comprehensive spectrum of AF.

To gather further insights into advancing AF management, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

o Lifestyle and Systemic Influences: Examination of the impact of lifestyle interventions, obesity, sleep apnea, metabolic syndrome, and inflammation on AF prevention and management.

o Population Health and Global Trends: Epidemiological studies investigating disparities, prevalence, and outcomes in diverse communities.
