With the acceleration of industrialization and the severe challenge of global climate change, the concept of green low-carbon and sustainable development becomes an important issue in contemporary society. Cement concrete building materials are the main construction materials of current building structures. However, a large number of infrastructure projects have consumed huge energy which are used to produce building materials and usage. Prolonging the service life of structural engineering, improving the durability of structural engineering, and introducing low-carbon and negative carbon building materials are effective measures to reduce building energy consumption. The low design life and the weak durability of traditional cement concrete building structure are prominent, so it is difficult to achieve the service life requirement of 100-year building. How to prepare ultra-long service life engineering structures and effectively improve the durability of such structures is the development trend of the future civil engineering research field.

Researchers and designers have carried out a lot of research work in the service life and durability of building structures, and the service life and maintenance technology of existing building structures are still at the level of decades to centuries, and it is difficult to build buildings used for several hundred to thousand years. By improving the composition and type of building materials, using zero- and carbon-negative building materials, and improving construction technology, the goal of generating and preparing ultra-long service life building structures, building maintenance and improving performance can be achieved. Research on building material preparation and durability of engineering structures with long service life is the functional requirement of future buildings.
