The intersection of climate change, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and zoonotic diseases represents a growing global health challenge. Climate change alters ecosystems, influences the distribution of pathogens and their hosts, and impacts antimicrobial use in agriculture and healthcare. Rising temperatures, changes in rainfall patterns, and habitat shifts disrupt the dynamics between humans, animals, and microbes, facilitating the evolution of resistant pathogens. Simultaneously, zoonotic disease emergence is accelerated as climate change increases interactions between wildlife, livestock, and humans. This convergence poses a significant threat to public health, food security, and economic stability, necessitating a deeper understanding of these interconnected issues.

This Research Topic aims to explore how climate change contributes to the evolution of AMR and the emergence of zoonotic diseases. Specifically, it seeks to address the mechanisms through which climate-driven environmental changes influence microbial resistance and pathogen spillover. Recent advances have highlighted the role of changing ecosystems in the persistence and transmission of resistant genes and zoonotic agents, but critical knowledge gaps remain.
