Cardiovascular dysfunction is a complex, globally prevalent condition. Comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity consistently increase hospitalization and mortality in affected patients. Despite advances in care, outcomes remain insufficient, highlighting unmet needs in disease management. Lifestyle interventions, including smoking cessation, reduced alcohol consumption, regular physical activity, cardiac rehabilitation, and balanced dietary patterns, are foundational for both prevention and treatment across the spectrum of cardiovascular disorders.

This Research Topic aims to critically evaluate how nutrition and nutraceutical supplementation may prevent cardiovascular dysfunction and enhance its treatment, including as adjuncts to standard therapies. A growing body of evidence suggests that careful monitoring and optimization of nutritional status, including macronutrients, micronutrients, and targeted nutraceuticals, may improve symptoms and clinical outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease. However, conclusive evidence is still needed across preclinical and clinical domains to define efficacy, safety, dosing, and patient selection.

We invite contributions that:
• Elucidate the mechanisms by which diet and nutraceuticals influence cardiovascular risk and function;
• Assess the effectiveness of nutraceuticals as preventive strategies or as complements to standard therapy;
• Synthesize evidence from preclinical models (in vitro and in vivo) and clinical trials;
• Address methodological rigor, biomarker-guided approaches, and translational pathways from bench to bedside;
• Explore heterogeneity of treatment effects across comorbidities (e.g., diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension).

We would be interested to see the following types of manuscripts submitted to the collection:
• Traditional and systematic reviews;
• Meta-analyses;
• Original research articles.

Overall, this issue seeks to integrate mechanistic insights with clinical evidence to define practical, evidence-based strategies for leveraging nutrition and nutraceuticals in cardiovascular care.
