Nurse fatigue is increasingly recognized as a significant health concern within the medical community, associated with a variety of physiological, psychological, and environmental factors. The demanding nature of nursing, characterized by long hours, shift work, and high-stress environments, significantly contributes to this issue. Recent research has highlighted how fatigue not only leads to burnout but also increases turnover rates, impacting the stability and effectiveness of healthcare services. Additionally, there is growing evidence linking shift work to various long-term health problems, such as cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome, necessitating a deeper exploration into preventative measures and management strategies.

This Research Topic aims to comprehensively understand the various dimensions of nurse fatigue and to develop strategies that mitigate its impact on nurses and the healthcare system as a whole. Specifically, it will focus on identifying the interrelations between work conditions, emotional intelligence, and personal health outcomes, and how these factors collectively contribute to burnout and turnover. Furthermore, the goal is to examine ways in which injury prevention and management of alarm fatigue can be integrated into routine nursing practices to boost overall health and job satisfaction.
