G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play a central role in the pathogenesis and development of osteoporosis, a serious bone metabolism-related disease. Recent studies highlight the importance of GPCRs as the largest drug target family in the market, significantly influencing bone remodeling and metabolism. Despite progress in understanding primary osteoporosis's pathological mechanisms, an effective treatment devoid of severe side effects remains elusive. Most molecules linked to bone remodeling, including RANKL, PTH, estrogen, and Wnt ligands, are associated with GPCRs. Consequently, investigating the GPCRs family’s regulatory mechanisms in osteoporosis may offer novel pathways for drug development, aiming to minimize side effects such as jawbone necrosis and vertebral fractures while tackling the disease more effectively.

This Research Topic aims to clarify which GPCRs family members are pivotal in the development of primary osteoporosis, identifying key downstream molecules or signaling pathways contributing to this process. The recognition of these targets will facilitate the development of future osteoporosis treatments. By consolidating foundational research on GPCRs' role in bone metabolism, we aspire to carve out theoretical frameworks for drug discovery. We also seek to engage leading experts for review articles, ensuring the incorporation of the latest findings in understanding the complex GPCRs-related signaling pathways associated with osteoporosis.

To gather further insights into the involvement of GPCRs in osteoporosis, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
