Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death globally, with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) representing one of its most critical and life-threatening type of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. In recent years, substantial progress has been made in understanding the pathophysiology of ACS, identifying associated risk factors, and exploring novel treatment strategies. Despite these advancements, the global burden of ACS continues to rise, underscoring the urgent need for improved preventive and therapeutic approaches.

Early detection and timely intervention are key to reducing adverse outcomes in patients with ACS. While numerous studies have sought to develop reliable methods for early warning and prognostic evaluation, a simple, efficient, and clinically applicable approach has yet to be established.

This Research Topic aims to explore and elucidate the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of ACS, with a particular focus on identifying novel biomarkers for early detection and risk stratification. It also seeks to investigate innovative methodologies for biomarker detection that can enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical applicability. In parallel, this topic encourages the analysis of predictors associated with poor prognosis, with the ultimate goal of improving risk prediction models and guiding more effective, individualized treatment strategies.
