Vaccine development remains a cornerstone in the global fight against a wide array of diseases, particularly infectious diseases. In recent years, the integration of computational tools—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic—has highlighted the potential of immunoinformatics in accelerating vaccine discovery and design. This Research Topic aims to explore the next-generation vaccine development by leveraging cutting-edge immunoinformatic strategies.

Despite the availability of several traditional and modern vaccine platforms, the immunoinformatic approach has emerged as a versatile and data-driven methodology, offering high-throughput screening, epitope prediction, and rational antigen design. Notably, the recent success of computationally designed vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 has laid the groundwork for applying similar methodologies to other emerging and re-emerging pathogens.

We invite contributions that explore the use of computational biology, reverse vaccinology, and systems immunology to develop broad-spectrum or universal vaccines capable of targeting diverse infectious and non-infectious pathologies.
