Minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic techniques, robotic surgery, endoscopic treatment and interventional therapy, have been widely applied in pediatric surgery, especially in the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. These techniques reduce surgical trauma, facilitate faster recovery, and improve patient outcomes. However, skillfully combining and applying various minimally invasive techniques to handle complex situations and selecting the correct children to use the appropriate minimally invasive techniques remains challenging in clinical practice.

This Research Topic aims to explore the application value of minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of GI conditions in children, with a particular focus on the innovative and combined application of these techniques. It seeks to highlight clinical case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of minimally invasive techniques in addressing complex situations. Utilizing minimally invasive techniques to solve complex problems in GI conditions is of vital importance for reducing the number of operatibe procedures for children and minimizing physical and mental trauma. This special topic also covers the application and innovation of minimally invasive techniques in treating common GI conditions in children.
