Yet, the complexity of their interactions, particularly concerning metabolic syndrome, liver injury, autoimmune disorders, and cancer, remains inadequately understood. Leveraging the power of omics technologies enables in-depth profiling of microbial communities along with their gene products and the resultant metabolite landscapes, offering new insights into these complex interactions. Despite these advances, there remains a need to further elucidate the causal mechanisms and establish clear links between specific metabolites and host responses, particularly to identify potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

This Research Topic aims to deeply explore the intricate relationships between gut microbiota and host health, particularly examining how multi omics approaches can advance our understanding of personalized nutrition and the crucial role of diet-gut microbiota-metabolite networks in maintaining host health. By fostering a cross-disciplinary dialogue, including microbiologists, immunologists, systems biologists, computational scientists, and clinicians, this initiative aspires to merge fundamental discoveries with practical clinical applications.
