Transition metal-based nanomaterials have emerged as versatile platforms at the intersection of energy science and biomedicine. Their variable valence states, rich coordination environments, and tunable physicochemical properties make them ideal candidates for applications ranging from electrocatalytic energy conversion to redox-responsive biomedical interventions. These nanomaterials—including oxides, sulfides, phosphides, and alloyed systems—offer multifunctionality that bridges sustainable energy technologies and next-generation healthcare solutions.

This Research Topic aims to gather recent advances in the rational design, synthesis, and multifunctional deployment of transition metal-based nanomaterials across two key domains: energy and biomedicine. We are particularly interested in studies that reveal the structure–activity relationships governing performance in electrochemical systems and biological environments. Contributions that demonstrate how the same class of materials can be tailored for applications such as energy storage, reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulation, nanozyme-based therapy, and bioelectronic sensing are highly encouraged. This Topic seeks to highlight the translational potential of these materials in building smarter, dual-purpose platforms for global challenges in energy and health.
