Metabolic diseases have emerged as a pressing global health concern, significantly increasing the risk of chronic and fatal illnesses. Moreover, metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome negatively impact brain function, contributing to mood disorders and cognitive impairment. Prominently, exercise has been recognized as a vital lifestyle intervention with extensive health benefits for individuals with metabolic diseases. The advent of omics technologies, such as genomics and proteomics, has substantially advanced our understanding of the precise mechanisms by which exercise enhances metabolic health. However, there remains a crucial need for further investigation into the optimal dose-response relationship and underlying mechanisms of exercise in promoting metabolic well-being. Recent studies have begun to unravel the complex ways exercise modifies metabolic health, yet much remains to be explored regarding effectively integrating these strategies into clinical practice.

This Research Topic aims to evaluate the impact of exercise on the prevention and rehabilitation of metabolic diseases, including diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperlipidemia, and obesity. It will focus on various aspects of exercise, such as intensity, duration, and dosage, and how these factors act in the onset and progression of these diseases. Additionally, this research will explore potential targets and mechanisms by leveraging multi-omics technologies to uncover the benefits of exercise on metabolic health. The scope of this investigation will encompass a broad range of research types, from empirical studies to systematic reviews, clinical case studies, and methodological examinations. These contributions aim to augment our understanding of the clinical benefits and potential mechanisms of effectively managing metabolic diseases through exercise.
