Despite the progressive refinement of surgical techniques and perioperative care, it is pivotal that healthcare practitioners are equipped to handle the complications that may arise, which could escalate if not managed adeptly. This intricate management relies on well-charted pathways integrating both surgical re-interventions and advancing interventional endoscopic methods.

As obesity treatment evolves, driven by groundbreaking surgical innovations and the development of incretin-based drugs together with minimally invasive endoscopic options, there is a critical need for a reevaluation of how these strategies overlap in managing bariatric surgical complications. This intersection of surgical and endoscopic management methods requires rigorous critique and discussion to optimize patient outcomes.

This Research Topic aims to address pivotal questions in the management of perioperative complications in bariatric surgery. It seeks to explore the conditions under which surgical re-intervention is necessary compared to the situations where endoscopic approaches might be more appropriate.
