These high-resolution imaging techniques—like shear-wave elastography, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, and hybrid modalities—offer real-time, radiation-free assessments, vital for diverse surgical fields such as orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, oncology, visceral, and reconstructive surgeries. Despite these advancements, consistent integration across disciplines and maximizing the utility of these techniques throughout the surgical and rehabilitation continuum still pose challenges that must be addressed to fully exploit their potential.

This Research Topic aims to explore and document novel applications of ultrasound and advanced imaging technologies within the surgical and rehabilitative frameworks. It encourages submissions focusing on improving preoperative planning and patient-specific modeling, enhancing intraoperative navigation and monitoring, and advancing ultrasound-guided interventions.
