In the context of the ecosocial challenges shaping our time and the tensions that traverse educational structures globally, it becomes essential to pose new questions about the meaning, function, and transformation of the school. This special issue of Frontiers in Education invites the construction of a critical, transdisciplinary, and global conversation on creativity in the school context, understood as a distributed, situated, and collective practice oriented toward building more just, livable, and equitable futures.

From an ecosocial perspective, we understand that creativity can no longer be conceived as an individual attribute, nor as a merely instrumental tool for innovation. It is, above all, a relational practice, culturally mediated, generated in the interaction between knowledges, affects, territories, disciplines, and communities. This vision challenges dominant epistemologies in education, proposing instead dialogical and collective processes of critical questioning, pedagogical meaning-making, and transformative action that address systemic and ecosocial inequities and injustices.

What is the educational and transformative potential of creativity when it unfolds collectively through the dialogue of diverse knowledges and plural historical-cultural frameworks to confront ecosocial challenges and foster the common good?
