Nutrition plays a central role for public health outcomes, influencing the prevention and management of chronic diseases and contributing to overall population well-being. In recent years, the global burden of noncommunicable conditions—such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity—has highlighted the need for integrated strategies that combine nutritional policies, community-based interventions, and long-term chronic care models. At the same time, climate change and environmental degradation are increasingly recognized as major determinants of health, affecting food systems, access to nutritious foods, and sustainability of care pathways. Understanding how nutritional practices, public health frameworks, and environmental priorities intersect is essential for designing effective future-oriented strategies. This Research Topic aims to explore innovative perspectives, evidence-based approaches, and emerging challenges that can guide policymakers, practitioners, and researchers toward more resilient and equitable health systems.

The primary goal of this Research Topic is to address the growing need for integrated, forward-looking strategies that link nutrition, public health, and environmental sustainability. Despite clear evidence on the role of nutrition in preventing chronic diseases and improving population health, current frameworks often remain fragmented, with limited coordination between clinical practice, public policy, and ecological priorities. The problem we aim to tackle is the insufficient alignment of nutritional interventions with long-term chronic care planning and the challenges posed by climate change to food systems and health equity. To achieve meaningful progress, this Research Topic seeks contributions that:

1. identify gaps in current nutritional and public health models;
2. propose innovative, evidence-based approaches to chronic disease management through diet and lifestyle;
3. explore how environmental improvements and sustainable food systems can reinforce public health goals; and
4. highlight interdisciplinary strategies capable of guiding policy, research, and practice.

By bringing together diverse perspectives, the aim is to foster actionable insights to strengthen future health resilience.

This Research Topic invites contributions that explore the intersections between nutrition, public health strategies, chronic disease management, and environmental sustainability. Submissions may address themes such as innovative nutritional interventions for chronic care, the impact of climate change on food systems and health equity, sustainable dietary models, policy approaches for resilient public health frameworks, and the integration of environmental considerations into preventive healthcare. We particularly welcome interdisciplinary perspectives that combine clinical, epidemiological, environmental, and policy-based approaches.Authors are encouraged to submit a wide range of manuscript types, including original research articles, systematic or scoping reviews, mini-reviews, policy analyses, case studies, brief research reports, and perspectives.
