Neurological diseases are often accompanied by mental disorders, such as post-stroke depression/anxiety, mental health in sleep disorders/ epilepsy/ migraine, etc. The mental disorders not only have detrimental impact on the outcome of neurological diseases, but also decrease patients' quality of life after discharge from the hospital. For the past decades, the mental status after neurological diseases has long been neglected by neurologists. On one hand, it is largely not clear about the underlying mechanisms of mental disorders associated with neurological diseases. On the other hand, the evaluation, diagnosis, nursing, psychological intervention, and pharmacotherapy of mental disorders in neurological diseases are limited in clinical practice. Therefore, we aim to propose a collection of articles on mental disorders associated with neurological diseases, aiming to improving the comprehensive understanding of this field.

In this Research Topic, submissions of original articles, review articles and systematic review focusing on the potential molecular mechanisms, evaluation methods, nursing strategy, and therapeutic strategy of mental disorders in neurological diseases are welcome. We are particularly interested in recruiting original articles focused on the basic and clinical researches in this field.
