Needless to say, such scientific advancements can only be possible with decades of global scientific endeavor.
Several experimental and theoretical studies have been performed to optimize device performances of solar cells that converts renewable solar energy into useful forms like electricity or chemical bonds. Ongoing studies aim to improve efficiency of different components of photovoltaic devices like electrodes, electrolyte. Currently, the most efficient solar cells are hybrid perovskites-based devices that utilizes lead (Pb).
Understanding magnetism remains a challenge, particularly when considering high atomic weight. Some potential candidates can be a topological insulator, ferromagnetic insulators etc. Various ongoing theoretical and experimental efforts are in process but still there are several unanswered questions on the physics of band structure and conductivity which need state of art computational and experimental efforts. Certain material simulations do also need a method development approach.
Graphene and other 2D materials have been a center of attraction over decades. Graphene has showed potential applications in technological industries from flexible electronics to aerospace. Discovering new possibilities of graphene and other 2D materials will always be intriguing research for physicists, chemists and material scientists. Considering recent developments on organic semiconducting materials, we welcome articles on material characterization and applications of organic polymeric materials besides graphene.
This Research Topic welcomes contribution?s? focusing on materials that can be applied for battery and photovoltaic applications. Particularly, we are looking for research articles primarily describing:
1) Original finding of any of the battery components (e.g. cathode, anode, electrolytes)
2) Experiment and theoretical work on photovoltaic materials (e.g. Hybrid Perovskites).
3) Theoretical, computational or experimental insights on spintronics and magnetic materials. One can consider their work on bulk, thin film and 1D materials.
4) Research articles on 2D materials such as graphene, WSe2, WS2, MoS2 etc.
5) Organic semiconducting materials and their applications can be in 3D printing, magnetics, thermoelectric and thermoplastics, packaging materials to name a few.
