Heart failure (HF) represents one of the most burgeoning health problems. About 50% of HF patients present reduced ejection fraction whereas the other 50% of cases have preserved ejection fraction. These two distinguished clinical and epidemiological entities (HFrEF and HFpEF) have also different mechanisms and underlying causes. A third - less investigated – form of HF, heart failure with mid-range ejection fraction (HFmrEF) is also part of the spectrum. The knowledge about the mechanisms and therapeutic approaches in HFrEF, HFmrEF and HFpEF is far from being complety understood. Therefore, HFrEF, HFmrEF and HFpEF represent one of the most intriguing area of cardiovascular research.

For this Research Topic, we invite investigators to contribute with original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the mechanisms, mangagment and therapeutic approaches in heart failure with reduced, mid-range or preserved ejection fraction (HFrEF, HFmrEF andHfpEF).

We welcome clinical or epidemiologi studies as well as basic mechanistic studies in preclinical models of heart failure focusing in understanding the pathophysiology, outcomes and therapies in HFrEF, HFmrEF andHfpEF.

Keywords: Heart failure, Diagnosis, Therapy, Basic mechanisms, HFpEF
