Respiratory diseases include airway inflammatory diseases, pulmonary infectious diseases, pulmonary vascular diseases, diffused lung diseases, lung cancer, and critical care medicine. With the aggravation of global air pollution and changes in human lifestyles, the incidence of respiratory diseases is increasing rapidly. World Health Organization predicts that COPD will be the third leading cause of death following cancer and cardiovascular disease by 2030 and Lung cancer has been the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Moreover, the global pandemic of COVID-19 is becoming the most serious public health issue in human history. Hence, we organize this special issue to discuss the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary diseases.
This Research Topic encourages submissions focusing on the role of airway epithelium and smooth muscle in chronic airway diseases. Meanwhile, submissions concerning the efficacy and safety of target therapy and immunotherapy in lung cancer are welcome. Special attention will be given to the treatment of COVID-19, including specific drugs, vaccination, supportive therapy and plasma therapy. The Research Topic encourages submissions which update respiratory support technology in critical care medicine. We also pay attention to the etiological diagnosis of pulmonary infectious diseases for more precise treatment. In addition, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the management of pulmonary disease is of interest. Original research article and review article are all welcomed.
Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
• Pulmonary immunologic microenvironment
• Ion channel and pulmonary disease
• Targeted therapy and immunotherapy in lung cancer
• The management of COVID-19
• Etiological diagnosis of pulmonary infectious diseases
• Novel diagnostic approaches of pulmonary disease
• Respiratory supportive therapy
Kindly note that Dr Yang Xia act as the coordinator for this Research Topic. We really appreciate his help and support.
