New Challenges and Future Perspectives in Climate Adaptation: 2022

Over the last decade, there has been growing interest and important developments in climate adaptation research. These advances have been fostered by major improvements in technology and research techniques, which enable us to gather insights from different approaches and support us in further understanding the field, to achieve our mission to live healthy lives on a healthy planet.

Whilst the community can be proud of major advances, there is still a long way to go. In this pivotal Research Topic, we encourage researchers to summarize the current literature and the main challenges the field of climate change and climate adaptation is facing. We also welcome contributions that look into the future and define the directions that the field will take in the coming years. What have been the key discoveries so far? What are the most pressing matters that need to be addressed? Where is climate adaptation going to take us in the near future?

This article collection will define the state-of-the-art at the end of the second decade of the 21st century and will determine the progress that needs to be made in the next decade. We encourage authors to contribute with review articles or perspectives, however, all article types are welcomed.
