Life-saving medical and scientific research-based interventions are extending people's lives and saving the lives of people who have suffered from diseases and injuries. This has led to an increased need for the development of technical and medical devices for the prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment of injuries. With the development of computer technology, more and more virtual models of the human body have been developed for biomedical and biomechanical research and application. Reliable virtual body models can efficiently improve injury prediction and rehabilitation, as well as disease diagnosis and treatment. For the past decade, biomechanical virtual human body models have experienced major advancements in terms of development methods, model biofidelity, availability, and applications.

This research topic focuses on the developments and applications of virtual human body models for the evaluation and design of biomechanical and biomedical devices aiming at prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment. We encourage submissions that explore the breadth and depth of this growing area of research and development. High-quality manuscripts that address human body modeling and its applications in injury analysis, prevention, and treatment will be given preference. Articles on the following subtopics are especially welcome:

1) Sports biomechanics and injury analysis facilitated by the use of virtual human models;
2) Impact biomechanics and injury analysis facilitated by the use of virtual human body models;
3) Evaluation, design, and optimization of biomedical devices for the prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment of impact-induced injuries facilitated by biomechanical virtual human body models.
