About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we plan to discuss therapeutic options for treatment of chronic allograft injury and unmet needs in immunosuppression. We would like to explore why are they unmet, e.g. difficulty with standardizing the diagnosis, lack of effective therapies, lack of ability to measurement or success. We plan to divide the discussion further into:
- Desensitization protocols especially for deceased donors and kidney transplantation in highly sensitized patients
- Delayed graft function and therapeutic approaches to ischemia reperfusion injury
- Treatment of Chronic antibody-mediated rejection
- Diagnosis and treatment of chronic T cell mediated rejection
- Treatment of BKV nephropathy
- Treatment recurrent and de novo glomerular disease
- Therapeutic options for calcineurin inhibitor toxicity
- Tolerance/Treg approaches – to be able to withdraw medications safely
Keywords: chronic allograft injury, immunology, graft function, immunosuppression, ischemia reperfusion injury, Chronic antibody-mediated rejection, BKV nephropathy, Desensitization protocols
