Despite the significant advances in diabetes technology and care in recent years, there remains a significant variation in outcomes, with poorer outcomes seen in those of ethnic minority groups. Multiple factors contribute to this, including disease mechanism, uptake of technology, and access to healthcare.
In this research topic we would like to focus on the factors which lead to ethnic disparities in diabetes care and outcomes, varying from disease processes to language barriers to engagement with healthcare professionals.
Specific themes of interest include but are not limited to:
- The Influence of various factors on diabetes care, complications and outcomes including: Ethnicity, Deprivation, Language barriers, Immigration, Uptake of technology, Education level
- Structured diabetes education tailored to specific ethnic groups
- Variations in pathophysiology of diabetes amongst different ethnic groups
- Approaches to address health inequalities in diabetes care and outcomes
- Barriers to addressing ethnic disparities in diabetes care
All article types accepted by Frontiers are encouraged.
