Cancer is one of the greatest threats to human health all over the world. At present, the existing methods for tumor treatment are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but all these methods have disadvantages that make the tumor treatment ineffective and imprecise.
In contrast to the unsatisfactory results of conventional therapies, supramolecular therapeutic materials have an unparalleled advantage in early-stage diagnosis and differential therapy, exhibiting great potential in clinical application. Here, we focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of supramolecular biomaterials, investigate their stimuli-responsive properties and their application in cancer therapy. The purpose of this Research Topic is to highlight the recent development in new supramolecular hosts for fabricating biomaterials, together with the accuracy and efficiency of the assembled supramolecular cancer therapeutic biomaterials.
We welcome Original Research and Perspective articles, Review and Mini Review on themes including, but not limited to:
• Synthesis, construction and characterization of supramolecular biomaterials.
• Development of novel stimuli-responsive nano-composites with tailored characteristics through self-assembly.
• Investigation of self-assembled biomaterials in cancer therapy.
• Design and fabrication of new supramolecular hosts for biomaterials.
