Background: There is a growing interest about the role played by diet, physical activity and immune system on Parkinson’s disease (PD). It is well-known that diet may interfere with Levodopa absorption but, as recent studies have proposed an association between PD and an alteration of intestinal microbiome, the relationships between food intake and motor response remains unclear. As it has been reported that the altered gastrointestinal permeability and intestinal microbiome is mediated by inflammatory response, it is presumable that even the immune system is involved in the evolution of clinical picture. Finally, there are growing scientific reports in favor of a neuroprotective role of physical activity. There is a need to understand better underlying mechanism of this potential benefit.
Goal: Diet, physical activity and immunome are separate or associate potential key factors in the progression of PD.
