The combination of hypometabolism, oxidative stress, insulin resistance and neuroinflammation is a hallmark of numerous pathologies, in which perhaps the most sensitive issue is neurodegeneration. In this Research Topic, we expect to highlight research on each of the risk factors and their combinations. We welcome suggestions on decreasing the risks and reversing the pathogenesis. This may include (but is not limited to) nutrigenomics, metabolic shifting due to ketosis-inducing interventions, intermittent fasting, time-restricted feeding, exercise, supplementation with metabo-mimetics and agents supporting energy homeostasis. Original research, literature reviews, opinions, critique, hypotheses and theories are welcome.

Keywords: Nutrition Therapies, Time-Restricted Feeding, Intermittent Fasting, Intermittent Ketosis, Metabolic Shifting

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
