The main purpose of Portuguese Society for Neuroscience (SPN) is to promote and develop research in the area of Neurosciences. This interaction takes place in a privileged way at meetings of the SPN which are held every two years. These meetings bring together the vibrant Portuguese Neuroscience community and international neuroscientists that have been contributing to significantly advance this defying area.

The understanding of the brain and nervous system is a challenging and exciting field that is fast growing and providing new clues about mind and brain. However, many import pieces of knowledge are still missing. The new discoveries will contribute to disentangle the mysteries of the nervous system. This collection of articles aims to shed light into the latest advances in the field of neurosciences ranging from bench to bedside, covering topics from molecular to clinical data.

This Research Topic seeks contributions in the form of reviews or original papers representing the state of the art based on the program of SPN2019 meeting:

Submissions are open to participants and non-participants of SPN2019 meeting working in areas covered in the meeting program.
