The use of virtual reality and technological innovations based on e-therapy have had a great impact on the treatment of trauma and stress related disorders, such as PTSD, which has allowed for evidence-based interventions for these mental disorders. Considering the rapid technological advance and the scope that these technologies have had in recent years, it is important to have updated treatment protocols based on the new technologies that have proven to be effective. Furthermore, considering the great demand for mental health as a consequence of COVID-19, it is especially important to identify and have specialized treatments for trauma and stress-related disorders in the current context. The purpose of this issue is to present the most recent advances in the incorporation of virtual reality and intervention protocols based on e-therapy for the treatment of trauma and stress related disorders as well as to identify the current state of prevalence and treatment programs based on new technologies for specialized care in trauma and stress-related disorders derived from COVID-19.
