About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will focus on the opportunities that come along with the integration of metaverses, or embodied virtual-reality experiences, in education. These opportunities include the immersive and inclusive learning experience through the use of augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality. Metaverse can provide great support to both remote education and training operations in the post-pandemic world, and simultaneously contribute to the sustainability agenda by efficiently supporting remote learning and operations. These exciting opportunities are naturally met with some serious challenges, such as the availability of inexpensive technology for everyone, and the skillset to develop and consume immersive content. Overcoming these challenges will enable the education community to develop a resilient education ecosystem that can withstand worldwide disruptions, such as COVID, in the future.
We welcome contributions on themes including but not limited to the below topics:
- Metaverse for primary, secondary, and tertiary education
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) based metaverse for learning
- Large Language Models, like ChatGPT, enabled Metaverse
