Vocational education helps educated people to develop or enhance the knowledge, skills, abilities and other vocational qualities required for a certain occupation, resulting in vocational education playing an important role in the economic and social development of countries (regions) around the world. The scope of vocational education is very broad, including career information education, basic vocational education, vocational continuing education and other stages. K-12 education, higher education, and lifelong education are all traces of vocational education. As a result, the issue of how to improve the quality, learning outcomes, and vocational literacy of vocational education has become an important educational topic that has received much attention. The theoretical perspective of educational psychology can help teachers at vocational schools to better understand and teach students professionalism in a microscopic way, and to develop the professionalism of vocational school students to better meet the challenges of the workplace.
However, there is still much room for the development of research findings in vocational education psychology. For example, there still lacks research about the influence of psychological and cognitive factors on vocational education in the implementation of educational policies, educational management, curriculum development, teaching design, teacher-apprenticeship, workplace learning, career counseling, skills training, career preparation, on-the-job training context, there are still many issues to be explored in terms of how to effectively develop learners' vocational literacy.
Therefore, in this research topic, we aim to explore the psychological and cognitive factors that contribute to students’ learning performance or teachers' teaching performance in vocational education to help expand the understanding of quality performance enhancement. More specifically, we are interested in both quantitative and qualitative empirical and synthesis research and scope content towards, but are not limited to, the following topics:
1. The influence of psychological and cognitive factors on learning promotion for vocational school students
2. The influence of psychological and cognitive factors on teaching promotion of vocational school teachers.
3. Other topics related to vocational education psychology.
