Oral and head and neck cancers, primarily consisting of squamous cell carcinomas, pose significant global health challenges due to their aggressive nature and high morbidity rates. These cancers, originating in regions like the oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx, are notorious for their advanced stage diagnoses and poor survival outcomes. Despite substantial research into their genetic and molecular foundations, many aspects of their pathophysiology remain elusive, leading to gaps in effective diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.

This research topic focuses on deepening the understanding of the pathophysiology of oral and head and neck cancers, while also aiming to revolutionize diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The objective is to identify critical biomarkers, unravel complex molecular pathways, refine diagnostic techniques, and tailor more effective treatment strategies. By doing so, we hope to enhance early detection and improve the prognosis for patients afflicted with these cancers.

This special issue seeks submissions that address a range of cutting-edge topics, including:
- Comprehensive analyses of pathophysiological mechanisms in oral and head and neck cancers.
