According to international studies and reviews, refugee women’s mental health is worse compared to other immigrant women, men and general populations. In the present varying contexts of growing crisis around the world, an increasing potential number of women with refugee backgrounds need treatment and practitioners with gender and intercultural competence. The United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 cover social and economic development issues including poverty, hunger, health, education, global warming, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment and social justice.
The goal of this Research Topic is to sensitize refugee women’s mental health in different contexts towards relevant aspects of communication, risk and resilience factors and recovery when the UN’s goal of sustainability will be in focus.
The scope of this collection covers the SDG’s social and economic development issues among refugee women resettled in high- middle and low-income countries, including emphasis on health, gender equality and social justice. We will accept original research, but also literature reviews as well as opinion pieces.
Contributions from international, preferably female experts from the field of refugee women’s mental health provide insights into the theory and practice of present work with refugee women suffering from mental illness. Within this context, interdisciplinary specialists describe their work, share relevant experiences and formulate recommendations to attain the UN’s SDGs for 2030.
