Cross-Cultural Occupational Health Psychology Challenges for the 21st Century

Power grid icing is a severe natural hazard that threatens the safe and stable operation of power systems. With the expansion of ultra-high voltage (UHV) power grids, systematic assessment of icing disaster risks has become increasingly crucial. This paper proposes a probabilistic inference approach for power grid icing risk assessment, which employs a Poisson process model to characterize the nonlinear relationship between line failure probability and ice thickness, combined with Monte Carlo simulation techniques to evaluate overall system risk. Research findings indicate that critical ice thickness and failure sensitivity coefficients significantly impact the grid's disaster resistance capability, particularly when the proportion of high-load UHV lines increases, leading to nonlinear growth in system risk. Quantitative analysis reveals that when UHV lines account for 50% of the system, the maximum risk can exceed 15 times that of conventional line scenarios. The research outcomes provide theoretical foundations for power grid icing disaster prevention and mitigation, offering important guidance for optimizing grid planning and enhancing system resilience.

Research on Probabilistic Inference Methods for Power Grid Icing Risk Assessment: A Systematic Analysis Incorporating Ultra-High Voltage Line Ratios

Highly active myasthenia gravis refers to a subset of refractory patients who exhibit recurrent exacerbations and crises. Eculizumab, a complement C5 inhibitor, has shown its efficacy and safety for patients with anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive(AchR +)refractory generalized myasthenia gravis(gMG)in the REGAIN trial. However, the efficacy and safety of eculizumab in treating MG patients with severe infections have not yet been supported by clinical evidence. This is a case series reporting four patients with highly active myasthenia gravis complicated by severe infections. Changes in Myasthenia Gravis-Activities of Daily Living (MG-ADL) and Quantitative Myasthenia Gravis (QMG) scores were recorded before and after 12 injections of eculizumab to assess efficacy. Pathogen characteristics of infections were summarized using bacterial culture and next-generation sequencing (NGS) results, presented as a heatmap to illustrate pathogen species and abundance. Inflammatory markers, including Procalcitonin (PCT), C-Reactive Protein (CRP), neutrophil count, and total lymphocyte count, were monitored to evaluate the safety. Treatment regimens were retrospectively analyzed to further assess clinical outcomes and safety. The baseline ADL data for the four patients was 22±2.31(Mean±SD), and the baseline QMG data was 30.5±8.23. After 12 injections of eculizumab treatment, the scores decreased to ADL 4.75±3.3 and QMG 14±3.37. During the treatment , no apparent worsening of infections related to Eculizumab was noted. Three patients successfully had their tracheostomy tubes removed, and none of the four patients experienced further myasthenic crises.Eculizumab demonstrated clinical improvement in this series, and the treatment was well-tolerated. Case Series : Eculizumab In Highly Active Myasthenia Gravis Complicated by Severe Infections

A new generation of plant-based meat alternatives (PBMAs) has entered the mainstream. These products contain concentrated sources of plant protein and are formulated to mimic the taste and texture of their meat-based counterparts, especially red meat. The increased availability of these products coincides with calls from health agencies to increase the dietary plant-to-animal protein ratio for health and environmental reasons. The role of PBMAs in achieving the goal of consuming more plant protein may be particularly important since consumption of whole plant foods, such as legumes, which includes pulses (e.g., beans, peas and lentils), is unlikely to increase without major public policy initiatives. Nevertheless, there is debate about the healthfulness of PBMAs and about whether the benefits associated with traditional plant-based diets emphasizing whole plant foods apply to PBMAs. These products are heavily processed, often high in sodium, and contain lower levels of compounds (e.g., fiber, resistant starch, polyphenols) typically associated with the benefits of plant-based diets. On the other hand, PBMAs are excellent sources of protein, and many are fortified with nutrients of concern in plant-based diets. Collectively, the evidence suggests that while they may not provide all the benefits of whole legumes, PBMAs have health and environmental advantages over comparable animal-derived foods. For most individuals, a daily serving of a PBMA fits well within the context of an overall healthy diet. Higher intakes may also be compatible with healthy eating, especially for those whose protein and/or calorie needs are increased. 

Dietary guidance on plant-based meat alternatives for individuals wanting to increase plant protein intake

Purpose: This paper reports a rare case of endogenous Listeria monocytogenes endophthalmitis caused by hemodialysis in end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Methods:The patient was a 70-year-old female. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was light perception (LP). Endogenous endophthalmitis was diagnosed based on clinical manifestations and auxiliary examinations. Pathogenic microbial metagenomic detection of intraocular aqueous was used to identify Listeria monocytogenes. As multiple investigations showed no source of infection, a standardized treatment plan was proposed. Results: The treatment included the local application of antibiotics, glucocorticoids and cycloplegic drugs, vitrectomy, intravitreal injection of vancomycin and ceftazidime, anterior chamber irrigation, and systemic antibiotic treatment after the operation. After treatment, the inflammation subsided, and the BCVA at discharge was hand movement (HM). Conclusion: Our study highlights the importance of rapid pathogenic microbial metagenomic detection and timely standardized intervention in the treatment of endogenous endophthalmitis.

Endogenous endophthalmitis caused by Listeria monocytogenes infection in patients with end-stage renal disease

As a traditional Chinese compound formulation, No.8 burn ointment has demonstrated notable efficacy over half a century of clinical use, particularly in facilitating the healing of burn wounds. This study integrates clinical data, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, network pharmacology and experimental validation to elucidate the mechanisms by which No.8 burn ointment promotes burn wound healing and to identify its key active components. The findings reveal that the ointment may accelerate wound repair by modulating the HIF-1 signaling pathway. The network pharmacology analysis has identified HIF-1α as a core target of the No.8 burn ointment's action and has identified the key active molecules β-Elemonic acid and Rubiadin, which interact with the HIF-1α protein and influence the HIF-1 pathway. This research not only provides a theoretical foundation for the selection of targeted drugs in burn treatment and the optimization of traditional Chinese compounds but also provides new ideas for future research in related fields.

Study on the Mechanism of No. 8 Burn Ointment in Burn Treatment Based on Network Pharmacology and Experimental Verification

This study focuses on a multifunctional fluorescence probe JFT based on the FRET (Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer) and TICT (Twisted Intramolecular Charge Transfer) mechanism. JFT combines an electron donor and an acceptor, enabling it to detect sulfite and monitor intracellular viscosity. When reacting with sulfite, its electronic structure changes, turning off FRET and altering fluorescence wavelength and intensity. In different viscosity environments, the rotation of carbon-carbon bonds in the electron acceptor structure of JFT varies, affecting non-radiative transition pathways and fluorescence intensity. Theoretical calculations based on TDDFT reveal the electron distribution changes before and after the reaction with sulfite species, consistent with experimental phenomena. These findings deepen the understanding of the FRET mechanism of fluorescence probes and offer theoretical guidance for the design of more efficient fluorescence probes.

Decoding JFT: A Multifunctional Fluorescence Probe for Sulfite and Viscosity Insights

Objective: This study aimed to explore the prognostic value of blood inflammatory composite markers in the survival of pediatric patients diagnosed with secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH). Methods: Clinical data from 138 newly diagnosed sHLH patients hospitalized between January 2012 and October 2023 were analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine cutoff values and evaluate predictive accuracy, while Cox regression analysis was employed to identify prognostic factors. Results: The median age of the 138 sHLH patients was 38 months, with a female-to-male ratio of 0.92. Infection was identified as the most common cause of sHLH, 52.9% testing positive for the epstein-barr virus (EBV). Clinical features included decreased blood cell counts in 87.0% of patients, hypofibrinogenemia in 55.07%, hypertriglyceridemia in 46.38%, and elevated ferritin levels in 94.2%. Additionally, all patients experienced fever, while hepatomegaly and splenomegaly were observed in 66.67% and 76.81%, respectively. During the study, 48 patients died. Cox regression analysis identified red blood cell distribution width (RDW) ≥ 14.35%, fibrinogen < 1.5 g/L, red blood cell distribution width to platelet ratio (RPR) ≥ 0.36, and lactate dehydrogenase to serum albumin ratio (LAR) ≥ 56.02 as significant predictors of decreased survival. Conclusion: This study provides preliminary evidence that accessible inflammatory markers like LAR and RPR may assist in early prognostic assessment of pediatric sHLH. These findings highlight the potential utility of routine blood parameters, warranting further validation in larger, stratified cohorts.

Prognostic value of blood inflammatory composite markers in the survival of pediatric patients with secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis

The senescence of immune cells has also emerged as a key hallmark of immunological dysregulation and chronic inflammation in autoimmunity. Senescent immune cells are irreversibly arrested in the cell cycle, exhibit antimetabolic characteristics, and secrete proinflammatory mediators, all together disrupting immune homeostasis. T cells, B cells, and innate immune subsets, acquire a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which initiates tissue damage and sustains continuous inflammation in autoimmune diseases. The accumulation of senescent immune cells undermines immune surveillance, disrupts selftolerance mechanisms, and enhances autoantibody production, all of which contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes (T1D), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Accumulating evidence reveals that metabolic stress, chronic DNA damage, and persistent antigenic exposure in inflammatory microenvironments induce immune cell senescence. Such senescent condition more aggressively promotes disease pathogenesis by compromising antigen presentation, disrupting cytokine signaling, and weakening the function of regulatory T cells (Tregs).Targets of senolytic drugs, SASP inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and CAR T cell therapy currently have the potential to accelerate autoimmune pathology. These treatments would be directed specifically against the selective elimination or reprogramming of senescent cells to restore immune homeostasis. This review examines the mechanistic relationships between autoimmune development and immune cell senescence, as well as recent advancements in senescence-directed therapy. Understanding these pathways can provide new insights into autoimmune pathogenesis and inform future therapeutic approaches to immune cell aging.
