We are delighted to present the 2020 Edition of our Frontiers in Chemistry “Rising Stars” article collection. This collection showcases the high-quality work of internationally recognized researchers in the early stages of their independent careers.

All Rising Star researchers were individually nominated by our Guest Editors and Chief Editors in recognition of their potential to influence the future directions in their respective fields. This year, we have selected Guest Editors who featured as our Rising Stars in our previous collection. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of chemical science and presents advances in theory, experiment and methodology with applications to compelling problems.

New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
Contributions to the collection are by invitation only.

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
