Carbon nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes and graphene, are capable of transferring their excellent electrical and thermal conductivity to a polymer whilst also enhancing or maintaining its original mechanical properties. Polymer/carbon nanomaterial composites are increasingly finding functional applications in aerospace, automotive and electronic industries for electrostatic dissipation, electromagnetic interference shielding, sensors, etc., when flexibility or light weight is required. In recent years, much work has been carried out on the preparation and characterization of functional polymer/carbon nanomaterial composites. The influence of processing on the structuring and properties of these polymer nanocomposites has had much less attention, yet this is a critical aspect of nanocomposites research. Obviously, these limitations in the understanding of processing-structure-property relationship of functional polymer/carbon nanomaterial composites will obstruct their development and application.

The aim of the current Research Topic is to cover novel research in the processing-structure-property relationship of functional polymer/carbon nanomaterial composites, including the property and structure tuning of nanocomposites in processing. Some advanced processing methods and functionalization applications for these materials will be reported to help the researchers to grasp the recent development trends in this field.

This Research Topic will cover themes related to polymer/carbon nanomaterial composites including, but not limited to:
• Processing, structure and property relationship;
• Property and structure tuning of polymer nanocomposites in processing;
• Functional polymer nanocomposites (e.g electrical and/or thermal conductive, dielectric, sensing)
• Modification and dispersion of carbon nanomaterials
• Advanced processing methods and modelling (e.g additive manufacturing, reactive extrusion)

Original research articles, reviews, mini-reviews and perspectives will be considered.
