World-class research. Ultimate impact.
More on impact ›
In this section we will showcase work aimed at understanding the changes in scholarship, communication and publication practices of academic researchers in all areas due to the impact of the information age. The impact consists of a changed landscape which offers researchers new ways of working and new kinds of academic output for educators to use in their teaching.
The impact of the information age on academic communication is becoming quite profound. It affects the way that academics and researchers do their work (for example, by access to tools for collecting and analyzing data, and the rise of open data repositories), the way they work increasingly in technology-enabled distributed teams (for example, by access to means of collaborative working applications), the way that they communicate their findings (for example, by contributing their papers to open access repositories, or discussions to wikis) and the way that they communicate with the public (for example, by writing blogs and making films/vodcasts).
The distinctive focus of interest in this section is in soliciting reports of research investigating the changes in the scholarship, communication and publication practices of academic researchers due to the impact of the information age. We would be interested in contributions from any viewpoint.
This section can provide an outlet for work in this area which is interdisciplinary by nature and will contribute to developments in our understanding of a wide range of practices in a rapidly evolving scholarly landscape.
Submissions to Digital Scholarship are no longer possible via Frontiers in Digital Humanities, as this field journal is now closed. This section still welcomes submissions via Frontiers in Education.
