More on impact ›
This section is dedicated to publishing new and important works on the literary side of Digital Humanities. We are interested in contributions that transform classical literary studies with the help of digitization. This may notably cover new functionalities for the digital publication and interpretation of literary texts and works (such as the automatic semantic indexing using ontologies, semantic web techniques, name entity recognition, extraction of relations, or any other original method). The enhancement of individual or collaborative annotations through the use of meta-data or any other technique, the evolution of standards for digital publishing (e.g. evolution of ePub standards), and the evolution of representations of texts in digital forms (e.g. TEI) or of text-image relations (e.g. ComicsML) are also concerned. New methods for stylistic analysis and authorship attribution using textual statistics, data mining, or any other approaches to text analysis (such as "distant reading", detection of borrowings, reuses or citations, comparison of versions, alignment of translations, etc.) are welcome. The way in which theoretical approaches to literary studies (for instance textual genetics or intertextuality) can be improved through the use of an algorithmic approach obviously falls under the scope of this section as well. We are also interested in the way in which visualization techniques allow for improvements in terms of the understanding of literature, by shedding a new light on texts, plot, rhythms, poetry, archives, or social networks of authors, persons or characters in fictions.
