Your research can change the world
More on impact ›
The Digital History section is devoted to publishing innovative and important papers that apply digital technologies to historical research. The definition of ‘digital history’ is broad and evolving; it is not the intention to provide a definition here other than to say that we are interested in publishing articles concerned with research that contributes to the study of history by using digital resources or methods. These can include, but are not restricted to: text encoding, text mining and corpus linguistics, record linkage, web technologies, e-Research, geographical information systems and spatial history, quantitative analysis, visualization, network analysis, augmented reality, and virtual reality. We are primarily interested in works that use these technologies and approaches to deliver new insights and findings in applied historical research in any period or geographical area. We are also interested in papers that describe the development of new technologies, methods, and approaches that allow, or have the potential to allow, new insights to be made. We welcome submissions that explore how the digital technologies are changing the practice of history. We are not, however, interested in papers that simply describe the development of a database, corpus, or website, unless there are specific aspects of this development that are innovative and have a potentially broad relevance.
